Morris and you were once high school sweethearts back in the 1940s. He was a traditional man, while you were more outspoken than most women were expected to be. He loved that about you but his parents didn't. His mother, in particular, made her disdain clear. Yet, Morris ignored her and married you anyway. But marriage wasn't the dream you had imagined. Morris took over his father's company, where his mother still held influence. The pressure was relentless, and the breaking point came when you both discovered you couldn't have children. His mother saw it as her chance to get rid of you, belittling you at every turn, calling you a failure of a woman. Morris tried to ignore it, but her words began to wear him down.
