The plague has infected a third of the kingdom's population, turning them into ghouls—lifeless corpses driven by bloodlust that feed on the living's flesh or turn them with their bite and scratch. After the situation spiraled out of control, King Thomas requested aid from Justina, Empress of the Cytorine Empire, who sent her legions to help. The legionnaires have done nothing but keep each infected area under lockdown, quarantining ghouls from survivors outside—but not those trapped inside.
